Past Work Highlights

So here's just a bunch of work from the past 2 years.

Central Saint Martins Foundation Year

Here was WEEK ONE 'Textiles and Fashion'

I did this paper installation with two other people in my class, title of the week was Urban Surfaces and this was the end result, still a favourite of mine, was my kind of breakthrough from A level standard.

These were experiments developed from the installation piece

Here's FINE ART WEEK. The sperm piece. Classic Sanya.

The title was 'Mapping the Invisisble' and I don't know what the tutor was doing but I refused to sit around and do nothing so I did sperm; someone in the final project that year I SWEAR COPIED ME! Someone in fine arts basically did a fancy UV light version of sperm, kmt.

First appearance in Performance Design and Practice.

Only in art can you just spend your time burning food.

These woven paper pieces were done during Textiles and Fashion, we had to start off with deconstructing a shoe and these are some of the things I ended up with.
Now this is when I officially start my relationship with Performance Design and Practice, and we've been committed and loving since.

Garments that became furniture

Paper mache and mod rock antler hooks.

'Traditional' costume started and it was 'From Rags to Riches' and we had to work from Victorian street living and reycling. So I did a prostitute figure using paper, fabric and video tape, standard.

I hate period clothing, just like having to recreate something annoys me, I like to be innovative so this was my interpretation, fully embracing the scum of society which every guy indulged in, and getting the legs out - controversial victorian ooh ahh

And then experimenting with light, these shadows kind of engulfing the surroundings.

 Lil set model, bless.

Now this was the BOSS of my Foundation year. The finale project that was going to release me into Costume and the world of Art!
Text we got was 'The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat'.
So I focused on Dr. P's wife who in my mind was windowed.
First I was doing installations, costumes, blah blah and then it ended up in the final week this sculpture/costume/prop/thing. Really pleased with this.

Biggest thing I learnt in Foudnation a CSM was COMMUNICATION IS KEY. Work needs to speak to the audience; if you can't respond to it and the piece says fuck all and so people just walk on by, well the piece sucks.

So now what I've been getting up to since September, learning all new fancy skills in pattern cutting, victorian dress etc. We had to make a boned bodice.

Basting stitches left in still oops, raw silk fabric and chiffon and organza sleeves.

Experiment.

A scaled down petticoat with 3 types of pleats.

LOVE drawing nude. Nothing makes me happier than paper, drawing tools and a naked chick. Need to get some guys to pose for me.

First term design for Roald Dalh's short story 'Pig' from 'Kiss Kiss'
It's Aunt Glosspan, obviously.

These following designs were for term 2, Animal Farm by George Orwell, these designs for the play version.

'Napolean'

'Snowball'

'Man' - all humans in the play to be dressed like this.

'Folk of Sheep'

'Donkey'

AND BREATHE. That's me so far, next post will be of my final piece for this year.
